When you need something elegant, luxurious, and classy, there’s no better choice than glass.
Glass brings a sleek, modern, sophisticated look to your home or business that no other material can. Even polycarbonate can only mimic glass to a close degree, but not a hundred percent.
In addition, glass is highly resistant to UV rays and will not discolor or become yellow over time, a much-needed feature for Singapore’s sunny weather. In fact, glass is more resistant to UV rays than even treated high-quality polycarbonate.
Essentially, as long as nothing breaks or scratches your glass awning, it can last for decades.
Glass is also highly resistant to scratches as it’s relatively hard compared to other common materials. This means you won’t have to worry too much about objects falling onto your awning and leaving scratches on it.
Traditionally, a common worry about glass is its fragility. With our laminated and tempered glass though, that’s a thing of the past.
First off, our tempered glass is 4-5 times more impact-resistant than normal glass, which means it’s 4-5 times less likely to shatter from impact, whether it’s falling branches or hailstorms.
Second, our glass is also laminated. This means that in the unlikely event that your glass does break, it will stay stuck to the interlayer instead of shattering everywhere. This layer also helps your glass stay in bigger pieces when it shatters rather than breaking into many tiny pieces.
These make our glass awnings much safer and tougher than regular glass awnings.
A common assumption with glass awnings is that they are transparent. This stems from most glass awnings actually being transparent, and homeowners who think it’s the only option then continue to build more transparent glass awnings, further fueling this misconception.
While many glass awnings are transparent, they can actually be made to be translucent and even opaque. There’s tinted glass, frosted glass, patterned glass, reflective glass, and so on. With plenty of styles, not only does your glass awning not have to be transparent, but you’ll have plenty of design options to choose from.
So if you want the sleek elegance that glass brings but don’t want it to be transparent, it’s definitely doable. Some people prefer more privacy, while others just don’t want the glaring sun to be shining directly on them. Either way, glass awnings can be customized to suit your needs.
For those looking for an awning for their luxury or contemporary home, glass is a great, long-lasting option.
It is on the heavier side though, so planning and installation need to be done carefully to ensure that the supporting structure is strong enough to firmly hold the weight of the glass awning. Otherwise, over time, the structure may give in and the glass awning would fall, which is obviously a huge no-no.
